Stanislas Wawrinka says his friend and compatriot Roger Federer immediately called him after he beat Rafael Nadal to win his first Grand Slam title at the Australian Open.

"He called me straight away to congratulate me. Roger was going crazy—he was so happy,” Wawrinka told reporters. "He has been in that situation so many times so he knows the feeling and he was delighted. He is my first supporter, he is always there."
