Radek Stepanek expects Tomas Berdych to play for the Czech Republic in the Davis Cup semifinals against France.

After helping the team win the competition in each of the last two years, Berdych said this year he would not play ties held outside the Czech Republic. France has the choice of ground for the September tie, with the Roland Garros site expected to be the location chosen.

"We know that to succeed again we need to have the strongest team possible," Stepanek was quoted saying in French media. "I believe sincerely and I hope he will return to the team and he will fight again for a place in the final."
