GENEVA (AP)—Australian Open champion Stanislas Wawrinka will take on Andrey Golubev in the opening singles match of Switzerland's Davis Cup quarterfinals tie against Kazakhstan.

With 17-time Grand Slam winner Roger Federer also in the squad, Switzerland is a big favorite to advance to the semifinals for the first time since 2003. The best-of-five series starts Friday in Geneva on an indoor hard court.

Federer was drawn to face Mikhail Kukushkin in the second singles match on the opening day.

Federer and Wawrinka are also scheduled to play the doubles against Evgeny Korolev and Alexandr Nedovyesov on Saturday.
