Samantha Stosur won her first-round match at the French Open after hurting her leg in a gym accident that required five stitches.

"I had an accident in the gym on Wednesday night and cut my leg pretty bad," she said after her 6-1, 6-1 win over Monica Puig, which she played with heavy strapping. "I've got a guard on there so that if I hit myself it's not going to hurt so bad."

"I was doing some box jumps, and I actually don't know how I managed to do it, but I missed it and landed straight on my leg," said Stosur.
