Members of the 'Genie Army' who traveled to Montreal to cheer on Eugenie Bouchard received housing and tickets from the tournament, according to Canadian press, with WTA CEO Stacey Allaster also saying that the WTA would like to "bring" the group to the WTA Championships in Singapore if Bouchard qualifies for the event. It was unclear if this meant they would be compensated for any expenses.

Tennis Canada, the national association that runs the ATP and WTA events in Canada, offered to pay the fans either travel expenses from Australia or housing and meals during the event, according to La Presse.

Allaster told the press in Montreal that she liked the concept of fan clubs, and said if Bouchard qualified for the WTA championships in Singapore, "We want to bring the Genie Army there."

The group became known as the 'Genie Army' during Bouchard's run to the semifinals at the Australian Open, where they threw her stuffed animals following her matches.

Six members from the original group of 12 attended Montreal, according to *The Toronto Sun*, with the tournament housing them in a nearby apartment. Both the 'Genie Army' and a local group of fans received tickets for Bouchard's matches from the tournament, it added.

Playing her hometown event for the first time since becoming a top player, Bouchard was defeated in her opening match at the tournament.
