Andy Murray, ranked No. 8 but fifth in the ATP’s “Race to London,” will qualify for the ATP World Tour Finals if he reaches the quarterfinals of this week’s Paris Masters.

Murray has played in each of the last five weeks, winning Valencia, Vienna, and Shenzhen, reaching the semis of Beijing, and making the round of 16 in Shanghai.

“It's been a long few weeks, but it's been very beneficial for me,” said Murray. “We gained a lot of confidence in my body again from playing this many matches, and then also from winning a lot of tough, long, close matches, especially in the finals, match points down.”

The two-time major champion says that despite not winning a Slam this year, he has made good progress overall. The 27-year-old missed the fall of 2013 due to back surgery.

“I have come back well from a tough surgery and there are still hopefully a couple of tournaments left between now and the end of the year where I can try to make more improvements,” he said. “But if not, I'm still very happy, especially with the last few weeks.”
