Rafael Nadal has admitted he could withdraw from next month's ATP Tour Finals in order to have appendix surgery. Nadal was diagnosed with appendicitis in Shanghai.

The world No. 3, who is taking antibiotics to control the condition, is expected to have the surgery in the next few weeks in order to be ready for next season, but says he has not scheduled a specific date. A decision is expected following next week's event at Basel.

“I have had weeks of injury so it was not an easy season for me at the end, I have to do the surgery but I have to find the right moment,” he told *Sky Sports*. “I need to see how things go and how my body accepts the antibiotics, so after all the things that have happened over the last few weeks — let's see. I will try to do my best (to play London) but I cannot say, I do not know a hundred percent.”

Nadal is also supposed to play the Paris Masters following Basel, and then the World Tour Finals in two weeks. However, he could decide to have an operation following Paris, instead of playing the Tour Finals in London.
