The WTA will allow coaches to bring "WTA-authorized" mobile devices with them for on-court coaching next season, allowing players access to statistical analysis during their matches.

An app designed by WTA sponsor SAP will be used, where "players and coaches receive post-match point-by-point analysis from SAP that allows them to visualize the subtle technique variations that players use throughout a match, helping them to analyze performance," said the tour in a press release.

Coaches have been allowed to visit players once a set during opponent medical breaks since 2008, but had been limited to verbal discussions. The app allows access to statistics such as serving patterns and shot selection.

A fan app for spectators at the WTA Finals at Singapore has also been designed by SAP.

The ATP does not allow on-court coaching, and neither do the women's or men's events at the Grand Slams.
