Petra Kvitova says that while it is never easy to contend with the pressure of playing in her own country, she believes she is now more mature and can better handle it. The world No. 4 will lead the Czech Republic against Germany in the Fed Cup final this weekend in Prague.

“I know I will have a lot of pressure on my back to do everything I can, it’s a part of where I am now,” she told Fedcup.com. “It’s a lot of pressure on me in the Fed Cup but it’s more pressure from myself when we are playing at home than anything else. My family, parents and friends are all there, everyone is supporting us so it’s very nice but everybody is expecting that I make it two points and that’s what I will try to do.”

The Czech Republic has won two of the last three Fed Cups.

“I want to win for a third time,” she added. “In the first and second finals [in 2011 and 2012] it was amazing to win the trophy together, it’s not often we get to celebrate as a team. I love this competition and this team.”
