Patty Schnyder announced that she has given her birth to a daughter, KimAyla.

The 35-year-old Swiss retired in 2011 after getting to No. 7 and reaching the Australian Open semifinals in 2004, as well as quarterfinals of Roland Garros and the U.S. Open. The left-handed Schnyder won 11 career titles and beat former No. 1's Martina Hingis, Jennifer Capriati, Steffi Graf, Kim Clijsters and Lindsay Davenport, among others.

Schnyder divorced her husband and former coach Rainer Hoffmann, and has not said who is the father of the child.

''We enjoy this beautiful and exciting time,'' she said.
