Eugenie Bouchard says her new coach Sam Sumyk is "exactly what I was looking for" as she prepared to play their first tournament together in Antwerp.

Bouchard, who stopped working with Nick Saviano during the off-season, began working with Sumyk following the Australian Open. Her trainer knew that Sumyk was going to stop working with former No. 1 and two-time Grand Slam champion Victoria Azarenka, said the 20-year-old Canadian, and got in contact with him.

"When I started my search, I wanted someone who has played or led someone to No. 1 or a Grand Slam," she said at Antwerp. "He did—nothing is guaranteed, but I hope he can help me progress and achieve my goals.

"I like his mentality and approach. Every coach has his own philosophy and ideas, but so far I have kept my style of play. I want to keep playing aggressively, which I enjoy, but we will make small adjustments here and there. I always want to improve, and this is the primary reason I have a new coach."

Bouchard is No. 7 in the WTA rankings.
