France went down 0-2 against Italy in Fed Cup on Saturday, and while captain Amelie Mauresmo said she thought Caroline Garcia could upset Sara Errani,  the youngster couldn't do it. Italy’s Sara Errani beat Garcia 7-6(2), 7-5,   and Italy’s Camila Giorgi overcame Alize Cornet 6-4, 6-2 in Genoa. Mauresmo—who also coaches Andy Murray—said that Garcia didn’t play her best at the right moments as the 21-year-old hasn’t learned enough yet about handling big matches.

"[Caroline] had a few opportunities. She had the right tactics and delivered aggressive tennis, going for her shots and overpowered her at sometimes but she is not yet consistent enough at this level," Mauresmo told FedCup.com. "She let go in a blink of an eye. I told her to go for her shots, not to rush, and she was playing the right way, just the little moment she started to miss four or five in a row and you can’t do that."

Cornet said that Giorgi played perfectly and she was very frustrated because the Italian was untouchable.   However, she gives the team a chance on Sunday. "It’s a big pressure but I’m the leader of the team, I’m the French No. 1, and I have to handle that and try to keep the tie alive, I have to create it," Cornet said.

On Sunday, Kristina Mladenovic beat Errani, 6-4, 6-3 and Garcia stepped up to the opportunity and took out Giorgi, 4-6, 6-0, 6-2 putting France level with Italy, 2-2.
