Dominika Cibulkova will undergo surgery on her left leg and could be sidelined for the French Open. The 2014 Australian Open finalist has been dealing with an inflamed left Achilles tendon for the past three years. She had originally planned to have the procedure following the U.S. Open, but said the injury was now preventing her from playing.

"I have to undergo a leg operation because of the growth on the bone of the left leg," she said to Slovakian press. "I know it for five days. I can't play or train any more free of pain."

The 25-year-old Cibulkova will have her surgery next week at Sport Clic in Bratislava, Slovakia. It will be a "minimally invasive" procedure to remove growths that cause irritation of the tendon, and to show the extent of the damage to the tendon caused by the bone growth.

She said in a statement that she would return with "the goal of being 100 percent for the grass-court season."

The world No. 23 has only played two tournaments this year, reaching the the quarterfinals at the Australian Open and Antwerp, where she lost 7-6 (2), 6-0 to Andrea Petkovic and admitted she was affected by the leg injury.
