Novak Djokovic is upset that most fans are ticketless for Serbia's Davis Cup tie against Croatia on March 6-8 in Kraljevo, Serbia. The Serbian police are said to be "investigating" why the vast majority of fans were unable to buy tickets for the stadium, which seats only 3,000. Apparently, hundreds of fans stood all night at Kraljevo Sports Centre on Thursday and Friday to buy the tickets, but according to DPA, only around 50 were available at the box office.
The majority were said to be given to politicians and those with connections. Djokovic accused organizers of "criminal" violations. He said he was told half of the seats, or 1,500, were supposed to be sold directly to the public.
"It is clear that somebody committed a criminal act, and someone absolutely must be held responsible," Djokovic told Blic. "I am very disappointed. Tickets cannot disappear after 13 minutes ... unless you put only 50 up for sale. In the end, all were sold though the sale never started. I regret all this, because we picked Kraljevo, wanting to bring the event to the people there."
