WIMBLEDON, England—Eugenie Bouchard, who lost in the first round at Wimbledon, suggests that it’s possible that she may not continue working with her coach, Sam Sumyk. The Canadian, who began to work with Sumyk after the Australian Open, has lost 12 of her last 14 matches.

Following her first-round defeat as the defending finalist, the 21-year-old was asked if she was looking at changing up her team. “Maybe I should,” she said with a laugh. “Yes, we've definitely not started well at all. But I believe in him and he believes in me. As of right now, it's still the plan. But there definitely has to be some improvement, some changes, because I expect to do a little better than this.”

Bouchard, who withdrew from Eastbourne with an abdominal injury, said she would not have played any tournament except for Wimbledon because she was seriously hurt.

“Well, after Eastbourne we did testing and I have a grade two tear in my ab,” she said. "Probably wouldn't have been smart to playhere, but I couldn't pass on Wimbledon. So I did kind of minimal preparation to save myself for the match.”
