Maria Sharapova and Grigor Dimitrov have broken up, Dimitrov has confirmed to Bulgarian media.

The 23-year-old was quoted by Reuters as telling local press that their "paths split."The two players were first reported to be dating in the off season in 2012, with photographs confirming the relationship the following season.

"We experienced wonderful moments together. I wish her much happiness and success in life and in tennis," Dimitrov said.

Sharapova was recently holidaying in Montenego, apparently not accompanied by the Bulgarian. She has not publicly commented on the relationship since Wimbledon, where she reached the semifinals.

Dimitrov, whose performances have stagnated this season, also said he is looking to turn around his game. "Now I'm concentrated entirely on the game, and I'm sure the results will soon be seen," he stated. "This is the summer of the new beginning for me."

The No. 16-ranked player also recently stopped working with coach Roger Rasheed.
