#BeSerena: Celebrities salute Williams ahead of U.S. Open

A LITTLE HELP FROM HER FRIENDS  In a clip titled #BeSerena, a host of famous types sound off on...Serena Williams. Many of them are her cronies, including Caroline Wozniacki and Eva Longoria. Others get in on the fun, including (deep breath) Jennifer Hudson, Martha Stewart, Anna Wintour, Victor Cruz, Richard Sherman, Michael Strahan, and the entire Kardashian clan, replete with Caitlyn Jenner. Come for the celeb sightings aplenty, but stay for Katie Couric saying, "Damn, girl."

CHASER  Frank Deford discusses Serena Williams' apparent lack of rivals in an NPR piece in which he again drums up the consideration that Serena might not be pursuing Steffi Graf's 22-major mark if all were right in the world, but rather Monica Seles' record.

GLAM SLAM  Ana Ivanovic makes like Serena and gets a (non-cover) feature at *Vogue*. Therein, she discusses what you'd expect: weightlifting, fitness, hair care, sun protection, favorites fragrances, et al.

TOUGHING IT OUT A *New York Post* piece indicates that Stan Wawrinka's inferred girlfriend, Donna Vekic, is having a tough emotional time in the midst of U.S. Open qualifying matches and in the wake of Nick Kyrgios' comments midmatch directed toward Wawrinka. While she has stated that Kyrgios' off-color remark about her was unacceptable, she claims the New York City humidity is chief among her problems.
