The Russians will be led by Maria Sharapova in the Fed Cup final against the Czech Republic in Prague on November 14-15.

Russian captain Anastasia Myskina told AFP that Sharapova is scheduled to play, and she will also bring in Ekaterina Makarova, Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova and Elena Vesnina.

The world No. 3 had wanted to play in April in Russia against Germany, but she pulled out at the last minute because she was injured. Russia won the tie 3-2. The 28-year-old did win both of her matches against Poland in an away tie in February.

The five-time Grand Slam champion has never played in a Fed Cup final. She has only played four career Fed Cup ties.

The Czech Republic will be playing the final in Prague for the third time in the last four years. It won in 2012 and 2014 behind Petra Kvitova and Lucie Safarova.

The previous final between the two nations was a tight affair. In 2011, the Czechs beat Russia, 3-2 in the final in Moscow. Kvitova won both of her matches, while Safarova fell against Pavlyuchenkova and Svetlana Kuznetsova. Lucie Hradecka and Kveta Peschke beat Vesnina and Maria Kirilenko.

The No. 4-ranked Kvitova says she is excited that Sharapova will play. No. 5 Safarova will likely play again, as will No. 10 Kateryna Pliskova, who played earlier this year and won both matches.

But Czech captain Petr Pala has yet to decide who the fourth, likely a doubles player, will be.  He could pick Hradecka, who is ranked No. 23 in doubles, or Andrea Hlavackova, who is ranked No. 17.  Hradecka and Hlavackova play on tour together.

Safarova has been one of the top doubles players this year, and is currently ranked No. 4. She could play both singles and the doubles if it goes to a deciding fifth match.

The Russian doubles team is Vesnina and Makarova, who are in the Top 10.
