And that's a wrap for the day.
The rain that was expected to come and stick around did just that.
The women's doubles semifinal that was in progress when showers hit before 6 p.m. Thursday - Anna-Lena Groenefeld and CoCo Vandeweghe against Casey Dellacqua and Yaroslava Shvedova - was initially suspended, then called off for the day entirely, because of the downpour.
They played for a half-hour, with Groenefeld and Vandeweghe leading 4-3 when the match was halted.
They'll resume Friday, when the jam-packed schedule includes all four singles semifinal matches, including Serena Williams resuming her bid to complete a calendar-year Grand Slam.
6 p.m.
The anticipated rain that led U.S. Open organizers to postpone the women's semifinals hours ahead of time has arrived.
A downpour began Thursday a little more than an hour before the 7 p.m. scheduled start of Serena Williams' semifinal against Roberta Vinci. That match and the other women's semifinal were pushed back to Friday.
A women's doubles semifinal that was in progress Thursday was halted because of the rain.

Andy Murray lost in the fourth round at the U.S. Open, but brother Jamie still has a shot at a trophy.
Jamie Murray and John Peers advanced to the men's doubles final at Flushing Meadows by beating the U.S. pairing of Steve Johnson and Sam Querrey 6-4, 6-7 (2), 7-6 (7) on Thursday.
Britain's Murray and Australia's Peers will face France's Pierre-Hugues Herbert and Nicolas Mahut for the title. Herbert and Mahut defeated Dominic Inglot of Britain and Robert Lindstedt of Sweden 7-5, 6-2 in the other semifinal.
4:15 p.m.
The U.S. Open's singles semifinal schedule for Friday has been released, with all matches in Arthur Ashe Stadium.
Starting at 11 a.m., No. 2 Simona Halep will play No. 26 Flavia Pennetta in the first women's semifinal, followed by No. 1 Serena Williams against unseeded Roberta Vinci.
When those matches were originally scheduled for Thursday, Williams-Vinci was supposed to be first, followed by Halep-Pennetta.
On Friday, the first men's semifinals will be No. 1 Novak Djokovic against No. 9 Marin Cilic, starting no earlier than 5 p.m. The last semifinal will be No. 2 Roger Federer against No. 5 Stan Wawrinka.

Serena Williams' U.S. Open semifinal has been postponed until Friday because of rain in the forecast.
Williams is trying to become the first tennis player since Steffi Graf in 1988 to win all four Grand Slam singles titles - the Australian Open, French Open, Wimbledon and U.S. Open - in the same season.
The U.S. Tennis Association says both women's semifinals - No. 1-seeded Williams against unseeded Roberta Vinci of Italy, and No. 2 Simona Halep of Romania against No. 26 Flavia Pennetta of Italy - are being rescheduled for Friday, starting at 11 a.m.
The men's semifinals will then be played afterward, beginning at 5 p.m., instead of the originally scheduled 3 p.m.
Williams vs. Vinci was supposed to start Thursday night at 7 p.m., followed by the other women's semifinal.
