Maria Sharapova learned the good-naturedly hard way that it's not wise to be tardy to the party.

Running late to a press event where reporters waited on her, she found her agent, IMG's Max Eisenbud, already seated where she would dole out answers. The assembled press members were having their way with Eisenbud, who crafted less-than-Sharapovian responses to their queries.

An approaching Sharapova said she had needed to iron her shirt beforehand, and Eisenbud quipped that the press had just asked him to share the toughest part of his job. Naturally, his employer put him in his place with just a few words.

As is her wont, Sharapova is competing mightily at the WTA Finals event in Singapore. She won her first two round-robin matches, over Agnieszka Radwanska and Simona Halep, respectively, and looks to make the semifinal-bracket round convincingly.
