Andy Murray has indicated he will play the ATP World Tour Finals the week before leading Great Britain in the Davis Cup Final. The world No. 3 had previously said he might not play the tour's season-ending tournament on indoor hard court in order to be ready for the Davis Cup Final against Belgium, held on clay.

"The plan is to play the O2 where the World Tour Finals are held, in London] but to prepare on the clay," he was [quoted telling media before the Paris Masters, where he is playing this week. "I'm sort of sacrificing the preparations for the O2 to get a better opportunity at the Davis Cup."

The two-time Grand Slam champion has previously explained that his surgically-repaired back takes longer to adjust to clay courts. Murray said he spent the week before Paris practicing mostly on hardcourts, but will switch to clay next week.

"Next week I'll train as hard as I can on the clay," he said, adding that he will look to pick back up on hard courts once the Tour Finals begin. "Playing in front of a crowd like that in an arena like that is amazing, and against the players you play against too, so I would hope it would be fine."

Murray's approach reflects that Davis Cup is his priority at the moment, with the 28-year-old saying, "That's just how I feel, I can't change that."

Murray could play top Belgian David Goffin in the third round at Bercy.
