Australian coach Roger Rasheed, who has worked with Gael Monfils, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga and Grigor Dmitrov, says he is interested in coaching Nick Kyrgios.

A former coach and fitness trainer of Lleyton Hewitt, the well-known tour presence has not coached anyone since he stopped working with Dmitrov following Wimbledon. Kyrgios split with his coach right before Wimbledon, though he was helped by Hewitt during the hard-court season.

Hewitt, who is now the Davis Cup captain, will spend several weeks a year working with Australian players, but will not be anyone's exclusive coach.

"I’m a mentor to all those guys and I’ll be helping them all," Hewitt told the Brisbane Courier Mail, adding that they all had a good relationship while playing down Kyrgios's comments about working with Hewitt during the season. "I get on really well with Nick. He knows I’ve got his back."

Kyrgios has not named anyone else as his new coach, and the talented 20-year-old's repeated poor behavior on court this season has led to questions about his future.

Rasheed said he has not been contacted about the position, but would be responsive if Kyrgios shows the requisite commitment to Rasheed's tough fitness and practice regime.

"If a player with a high skill set is willing to commit and wants to be a top] player in the game, my coaching process delivers," Rasheed [told theSydney Morning Herald. "You've got to be willing to buy into that, buy into actually wanting to be a great player.

"Obviously Nick's a different character. He's flamboyant, and you're never going to take away the natural flair of the athlete. But it's about how you can actually bring that and mould that into a product that can legitimately... be a force on the world stage."

Kyrgios is ranked No. 30.
