Johanna Konta has withdrawn from this week's Fed Cup tie, citing an intestinal problem.
Konta reached the semifinals of the Australian Open, her best Grand Slam showing. She was scheduled to play for Britain in the Euro-Africa group tie in Israel.
However, having talked "with two doctors, my coach, [my] physio and the LTA," she has decided not to play.
“I have been advised by the doctors that playing there would jeopardise an ongoing intestinal issue that got progressively worse through the Australian Open,” she said in a statement. “…I have represented GB every time I have been asked to, and fully intend to play again given the opportunity in the future.”
Konta is now No. 28 in the WTA rankings.
