Simona Halep appears to have decided to postpone nose surgery, and will play WTA events in Doha and Dubai as planned.

The world No. 3 appeared in a Fed Cup press conference before Romania's tie against the Czech Republic, and was quoted by Romanian media as saying her recent illness had led doctors to advise her to have the surgery.

"It is necessary and would help me, but is not urgent, so I deferred it and can play," Halep said. "I underwent the medical tests and they all came back good, so the doctors told me it could be delayed … That is why I decided to postpone the surgery to play Fed Cup … I am happy to be part of the team with my teammates, as I always liked playing for the national team."

Halep said she has not decided when she will have the procedure.

"Right now, I don't know," she said. "I will play Dubai and Doha, and I think the next ones also. But right now I am only thinking of those two tournaments."

Halep, who has also been experiencing an ankle problem, fell in the first round of the Australian Open.
