GSTAAD, Switzerland (AP) The WTA Tour is returning to Switzerland after an eight-year gap with a clay-court tournament in July.

Organizers of the Ladies Championship in Gstaad say the tour has confirmed their event will replace the previously scheduled tournament in Bad Gastein, Austria, on the calendar.

The Gstaad tournament will be played from July 11-18, immediately after Wimbledon. The men's Swiss Open follows the next week on the same courts.

The WTA Tour last visited the high-end Swiss Alps resort in 1983. The last top-tier women's tournament in Switzerland was the indoor Zurich Open in October 2008, won by Venus Williams.
