On the heels of Equal Pay Day, Fox Searchlight Pictures has released its first image from the forthcoming “Battle of the Sexes” film. The movie features Emma Stone as Billie Jean King and Steve Carell as Bobby Riggs. It is, of course, all about that ill-fitted pair's 1973 showdown at the Houston Astrodome, to that point the most-watched television event ever.

The film, in the alliteration-addled words of producers Danny Boyle and Christian Colson, will serve as a love song to "the brilliant ballad of Billie and Bobby—the perfect odd couple." The movie, with a tentative release date of 2017, co-stars such outsized personalities as Sarah Silverman, Alan Cumming, and tennis superfan and USTA player Elisabeth Shue. Directors Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris previously guided Carell in the Oscar-winning “Little Miss Sunshine.”

"The excitement and honor never gets old," King said on Tuesday.
