Juan Martin del Potro has withdrawn from the French Open, but he indicated that he will play a full grass-court schedule.

The Argentine scored the best win of his comeback from wrist surgery two weeks ago against Dominic Thiem in Madrid, but he did not play Rome. In a Twitter post on Thursday, he announced that he will not play the French Open.

However, the former U.S. Open champion downplayed the move, saying he would increase his schedule when he returns on grass.

"Thanks to the improvements shown in recent weeks, for the first time in my rehab process I can confirm I will play several tournaments in a row," he wrote. “We decided that the smartest move is to start my preparation for the grass season.

"The list of tournaments is yet to be confirmed, but I hope to play as much as possible and, if the captain considers I should be part of the playing team, to finish the trip in Italy for the Davis Cup tie."
