PARIS (AP) French prosecutors have seized documents after carrying out a series of searches at the national tennis federation and the home of its president Jean Gachassin on Tuesday.
France's financial prosecutors' office said in a statement that the searches related to possible ''misappropriation of property and influence trafficking'' relating to the existence of ''an illicit system of reselling tickets for the French Open tournament'' and the ''awarding of the contract for the renovation and enlargement of Roland Garros.''
It added that the searches resulted in the ''seizure of documents useful to the investigation.''
In a brief statement, the tennis federation said it was ''fully cooperating with the investigators.''
A travel agency - Havas Voyages La Depeche - based in Tarbes, southern France was also searched as part of the investigation.
In February, French newspaper Le Canard Enchaine reported that French Open tickets had been sold to the travel agency for a significant profit.
Planned renovation for the Roland Garros tennis complex includes the construction of a new 5,000-seat court and a retractable roof over the center court by 2019 - although those plans have been held up by environmental groups.
