Serena Williams is set to play Rome. She has arrived in the city and is practicing on site.

The world No. 1 withdrew from Madrid citing a fever, and has not played since Miami.

Her older sister, Venus, who also withdrew from Madrid, has indicated that she is planning to play Rome as well.

However, Victoria Azarenka’s status is in some doubt following a back injury that caused her to withdraw from Madrid mid-tournament.

"My plan is to be ready for Rome," she told the press at Madrid.

She added, however, that she would take it "day by day and make sure my body is ready."

Caroline Wozniacki, who hurt her ankle in practice following Miami, will not be playing, but is back on court and hitting. Her leg is still protectively encased, so it appears that a return might not be around the corner.

Wozniacki has not confirmed whether she will return during the clay-court season.
