Ana Konjuh is a name you’ll be hearing about at Wimbledon for years to come. The young Croat owns a wallop of a forehand and reached No. 55 in the rankings last June, as a 17-year-old. Her game translates to all surfaces, but grass really accentuates her strengths.

That same surface, unfortunately, may have contributed to an unfortunate injury she suffered at 7-7 in the third set of her second-round match against No. 3 seed Agnieszka Radwanska. At this point, Konjuh had already served for the match twice and had three match points (two on her serve). With the contest still hanging in the balance, Konjuh ran forward to retrieve another one of Radwanska’s expertly crafted shots. She slipped on the ball trying to do so, turning her ankle:

Teary-eyed, Konjuh proceeded to take a 10:36 injury timeout with a trainer, and returned with a noticeable limp. Radwanska held serve, before Konjuh, as most observers expected, was broken to end the match. She couldn’t get much behind her serve, having trouble jumping into it; Radwanska took advantage with a drop shot two earn two match points. She’d need them both to end one of the most entertaining matches of the tournament—and an extremely painful one for Konjuh.
