LONDON—Alluding to some physical problems in his four-set, third-round defeat to Sam Querrey, Novak Djokovic says he will not play in the Davis Cup quarterfinals next week, and indicated that he does not know if he will be at Toronto for the Rogers Cup later this month.

Asked if he was 100 percent healthy, Djokovic said, "Not really. But, you know, it's not the place and time to talk about it."

He refused further questions about his condition, saying Querrey's quality of play earned him the victory.

Djokovic had come into the tournament yet to announce whether he would play Serbia's Davis Cup tie against Great Britain, but has now confirmed he will not. "No, I'm not going to play Davis Cup," he said.

He would next be scheduled to appear at the Masters event at Toronto, but did not commit to playing. "I have to think about it," he said, talking about whether he would play the beginning of the hard-court season or not.

The Serb will now turn his attention elsewhere.

"I have a family and I have a life outside of tennis," he said. "I'm going to obviously pay more attention to those things than tennis in the next period. I need it. It's been a very successful year so far, but very long one, exhausting one, in every sense of that word. I just need some rest."

Djokovic, who was the defending Wimbledon champion, will retain a large rankings lead as world No. 1.
