LONDON—Roger Federer says Stefan Edberg is not coaching him, even though the six-time Grand Slam champion sat in Federer's box during his fourth-round victory at Wimbledon.

Federer, who is working with Severin Luthi and Ivan Ljubicic, indicated that Edberg was simply attending the tournament. The 17-time Grand Slam champion said he did not receive any input from the Swede before his win over Steve Johnson.

"No, not at all," Federer told Swiss reporters following the match. "We talked, but not about the match. Severin and Ivan are my coaches now. I talked with them about my match."

But Federer said he would be open to suggestions from Edberg, who coached Federer in 2014 and 2015.

"If he notices something, he might tell me, [but] he's not the type of guy to push himself forward," the world No. 3 said.

There was not much to criticize in Federer's fourth-round performance. He defeated the American, 6-2, 6-3, 7-5.
