It’s been a nightmarish week for Nick Kyrgios.

On Monday night, the world No. 19 was upset, 7-6 (2), 3-6, 6-3, by 17-year-old wild card Denis Shapovalov in the first round of the Rogers Cup in Toronto. After the match, the visibly frustrated 21-year-old called out his country’s fans for not being supportive enough.

And then, of course, there’s the Australian’s obsession with Pokemon Go, which some believe has negatively affected his pre-match preparation.

Despite exiting early in the singles draw, Kyrgios stayed in Toronto to compete in doubles. Even though he was out of the limelight, he once again found himself in the midst of controversy. On Thursday night, playing alongside Jack Sock, Kyrgios was angered during a rain delay when he was not allowed to use the bathroom.

“You’re not going to give me permission to go to the toilet?” he asked. “But I’m busting. It’s an emergency.”

The Australian pleaded with officials, but then abruptly changed his mind. Apparently he no longer had to relieve himself.

“I don’t need to go anymore,” he said as he walked back to his chair.

To make matters worse, Kyrgios and Sock saw their run end in the second round against sixth-seeded Canadians Daniel Nestor and Vasek Pospisil. Up 1-0 in the second set—after dropping the first set 7-6 (4)—the Australian and American retired when an arm injury prevented Sock from finishing the match.

Kyrgios is scheduled to play in Atlanta next week. Maybe he’ll have less drama—and more wins—down south.
