METZ, France (AP) Dustin Brown hit 15 aces to dispatch local favorite Paul-Henri Mathieu 6-4, 6-2 and reach the second round of the Moselle Open on Tuesday.

Brown, from Germany, converted four of his six break points to set up a meeting with another French player, Julien Benneteau. It will be their first meeting.

Also advancing at the indoor tournament was qualifier Vincent Millot, who upset fellow Frenchman Benoit Paire 6-4, 6-3. It was Paire's first match since losing in the second round at the U.S. Open

''I don't understand what is going on,'' the seventh-seeded Paire said. ''I'm hitting very well in practice, I have been training very hard for the past 10 days and I had good sensations. But I'm a bit stressed during matches and my legs seem paralyzed.''

Two other qualifiers, Peter Gojowczyk and Nikoloz Basilashvili, also advanced, while Guillermo Garcia-Lopez battled past Damir Dzumhur 5-7, 6-2, 6-1 and will be up against fourth-seeded Gilles Simon in the second round.
