Agnieszka Radwanska and Karolina Pliskova have qualified for the WTA Finals in Singapore, the tour has officially confirmed.

The two players were in fourth and fifth place, respectively, in the standings and secured their spots when Dominika Cibulkova fell in the second round of the China Open. They also benefitted from other contending players falling during this week’s event in Beijing.

Radwanska is the defending champion at the WTA Finals.

“It will be exciting," she said. "… It won’t be easy to defend this title."

“It's been an amazing year so far, and the best is coming at the WTA Finals,” Pliskova said.

Cibulkova will play next week’s event in Moscow, and could still qualify for the eight-player field. Other contenders still in Beijing include Madison Keys, Svetlana Kuznetsova and Petra Kvitova, all of whom have reached the third round.

Angelique Kerber, Serena Williams and Simona Halep have already qualified for the WTA Finals.
