Gael Monfils has qualified for the ATP Tour Finals for the first time, becoming the sixth player in the field.

The Frenchman got into the eight-player round-robin event following Tomas Berdych's first-round defeat in Vienna.

Berdych, along with David Goffin and Marin Cilic, is still among the top contenders for the final two spots in the field. The three players are all within 300 points of each other.

In front of them is Rafael Nadal, who has announced that he will not be playing the event, and Dominic Thiem, who is also playing in Vienna.

The top eight players in the rankings, minus Nadal and Roger Federer, will make up the ATP Tour Finals field. The year-end tournament, which takes place from Nov. 13-Nov. 20, will be held in London.
