Milos Raonic has qualified for the ATP World Tour Finals, becoming the fourth player in the eight-player field.

Raonic clinched his spot by reaching the semifinals in Beijing, despite having to withdraw with an ankle injury he experienced in the previous round.

He is still planning to play the Shanghai Masters.

“I have a bye,” Raonic said, “...which will buy me four or five days, which could make the difference."

The Canadian described the injury as a partial tear in his ligaments, adding that even if he plays, he will still not have fully recovered by then.

It is another in a series of injuries which have interrupted his upward climb this season.

"It's been frustrating the whole time," he said. "To some extent, I am getting better at it."

Novak Djokovic, Andy Murray and Stan Wawrinka are the other players who have qualified for the ATP World Tour Finals.
