Grigor Dimitrov, who defeated David Goffin on Sunday to win the Sofia Open, says that he is exhausted, but thrilled that he finally was able to win in his native Bulgaria.

The 25-year-old thanked the 12,000 partisan ticket holders who roared as he defeated his Belgian opponent in straight sets.

“Without you, I could never win this tournament," Dimitrov told the crowd.

It was his first time playing an ATP tournament at home, with the world No. 12 deciding not to play the inaugural Sofia Open in 2016.

“This title means a lot to me,” he said. “It takes me back to the times when I used to play in the state championships. After the last point, I felt like that kid so many years ago.”

Goffin, who has yet to beat Dimitrov, told the umpire during the second set that the crowd was too hostile.

It is Dimitrov's second title of the season. His record for the year is now 14-1, including tournament wins in Brisbane—he beat Kei Nishikori in the final—and Sofia. At the Australian Open he reached the semifinal, losing to Rafael Nadal in a marathon.

This week, Dimitrov is playing the ATP event in Rotterdam, and is drawn against Mischa Zverev in the first round.
