It has been a season of veteran resurgences in tennis, and no late-career push may be more inspiring than that of Venus Williams. The 36-year-old with a history of health concerns reached the Australian Open final and defeated world No. 1 Angelique Kerber to made the final four in Miami. Her latest run was ended by Johanna Konta, 6-4, 7-5, and we’ll address the 25-year-old Brit’s chances in the final in a formal preview. But it’s worth acknowledging that, despite all the justified hoopla for Roger Federer and Serena Williams, the 35-year-old Australian Open champions, Venus is proving to be just as ageless in 2017. She’s currently up to No. 12 in the WTA rankings, will likely return to the Top 10 on Monday and continued to achieve success in Miami, a tournament that she’s been associated with throughout her career.

Konta will face Caroline Wozniacki in the Miami Open final; the Dane defeated No. 3 seed Karolina Pliskova to kick off a memorable day in Key Biscayne. In men’s action, Roger Federer saved two match points in a tightrope-walking win over Tomas Berdych, while Nick Kyrgios emerged in a battle of the ATP’s top young talents, defeating Alexander Zverev, 6-4, 7-6 (9), 6-3.
