Jurgen Melzer has announced that he has become a father.

The Austrian and his wife, Fabienne Melzer-Nadarajah, had their first child, Noel, Melzer wrote on social media.

"Nothing compares to becoming a father,” he wrote. “Thanks to my amazing wife.”

Melzer is still scheduled to play Davis Cup for Austria next week in a Europe/Africa Zone Group I tie in Belarus, alongside his brother, Gerald.

He joins Marcus Willis and Jo-Wilfried Tsonga among the players who have just become first-time fathers.

Former WTA player Jarmila Wolfe has also announced that she is expecting her first child.

Wolfe recently retired from the tour, having played intermittently due to a shoulder injury.
