Maria Sharapova is back in the rankings for the first time since October 17, 2016. The five-time Grand Slam champion, who returned this past week in Stuttgart following a 15-month suspension for testing positive for meldonium, reached the semifinals in her first tournament since the 2016 Australian Open.

Sharapova, now ranked No. 262, defeated Roberta Vinci, Ekaterina Makarova and Anett Kontaveit before falling to Kristina Mladenovic in three sets in the semis.

As for other movers and shakers on the WTA tour, Simona Halep reclaimed the No. 4 ranking after reaching the semifinals in Stuttgart. Mladenovic, who lost to Laura Siegemund in the Stuttgart final, jumped to No. 17—a career-high—after a strong week in Germany.

The biggest mover of the week? That would be Siegemund, who won her second career title at the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix. The 30-year-old German, unseeded at the tournament, moved up 19 spots to No. 30.
