After defeating Marin Cilic in straight sets, 2015 French Open champion Stan Wawrinka stopped by the Tennis Channel set at Roland Garros to discuss his next match, against Andy Murray. Their semifinal clash will be broadcast live on Tennis Channel at 6:30 Eastern Time.

Murray is 10-7 lifetime against Wawrinka, and he beat him in this same round at Roland Garros a year ago. But until the last three sets of Murray’s win over Kei Nishikori on Wednesday, I would have had Stan as the solid favorite to turn the tables against the world No. 1 this year. Wawrinka hasn’t dropped a set through five rounds in Paris, and he’s competing with that hard, proactive edge that we’ve come to expect from him at the majors.

But since Murray’s ragged, up-and-down second-round win over Martin Klizan, he has made definite progress. He got better as each of his matches with Juan Martin del Potro and Nishikori went on. Still, Wawrinka was the 2015 champ here, and Murray had to play one of the best matches of his career to dethrone him in 2016. Anything short of that kind of mastery from Muzz again, and Stan should win.

Winner: Wawrinka

On Friday, watch live coverage of the men's semifinals on Tennis Channel, home of the 2017 French Open.
