Venus Williams [10] vs. Jelena Ostapenko [13]

Venus is 37 and Ostapenko is 20, but they’re both doing the same thing: defying their ages. The more relevant numbers are their rankings: Venus is 11th and Ostapenko is 13th. In other words, their first meeting should be a good one. Each likes to let the ball fly, especially on the forehand side. Ostapenko is on a magical ride at the moment, but she’ll be making her Centre Court debut on Tuesday. Venus won’t.

Winner: Williams

Garbiñe Muguruza [14] vs. Svetlana Kuznetsova [7]

On Monday, Muguruza won a contrast in styles with the defensive-minded Angelique Kerber. On Tuesday, she’ll have to turn around and play a fellow slugger like herself. Kuznetsova has played as well as anyone so far at Wimbledon; she hasn’t dropped a set, or been seriously pushed. But based on their past, Muguruza should feel confident: She’s won her last three meetings with Kuznetsova. And she doesn’t want to squander a performance as good as the one she put in against Kerber, does she?

Winner: Muguruza

Johanna Konta [6] vs. Simona Halep [2]

Konta may seem like the upstart in this matchup with the world No. 2, but she’s actually won each of their two previous meetings. Both matches have been tight three-setters, and this would seem poised to be another. Halep has bounced back admirably from heartbreak in Paris; she hasn’t dropped a set at Wimbledon so far. Konta, meanwhile, has risen to the home fans’ hopes by fighting through two very tense matches. All things being equal—which they may or not be on Centre Court—Halep is a slightly better player.

Winner: Halep

CoCo Vandeweghe [24] vs. Magdalena Rybarikova

Vandeweghe has reached her second Wimbledon quarterfinal in three years, without dropping a set. Rybarikova has reached the first Grand Slam quarterfinal of her career after upsetting No. 3 seed Karolina Pliskova. These two played at the French Open last month, and Rybarikova won easily. You would think that Vandeweghe's serve-based power game would give her the advantage on grass, and it probably does. But Rybarikova’s changes of pace and spin work on this surface, too.

Winner: Vandeweghe
