I have been a teacher of tennis for almost 60 years. Needless to say, the game has evolved in many ways:
Each of the above have evolved to such an extent that deficiencies in any category can lead to disappointment and loss. As I look back to the progression of the game, I think about all the students I have worked with. That includes:
There was a time when you could hide, or protect, a weakness, but today that strategy will not produce positive results. It is very important that teaching pros, especially those that work with beginners, make sure that they work on all aspects of the game—especially technique versus early tournament results. Sure, your students might win at an early age, but please look to the future and make sure that they have a well-rounded game. And understand that Rafael Nadal is number one in the world because he has no weaknesses in either his technique or conditioning, physical or mental.
The IMG Academy tennis program is very determined to prepare each student to perform at their highest level of play. Want Nick Bollettieri to evaluate your game? Do you need help with your tennis strokes? Simple. Just #AskNick.
