Marion Bartoli, who retired just a few weeks following her first Grand Slam victory at Wimbledon, has announced she plans to make a comeback to the WTA tour.

"I am delighted to announce my comeback on the professional circuit of the WTA next year. I am so looking forward to see you again during my matches and share some amazing emotions with you," she said on social media.

The 33-year-old has joked about comebacks before, but also repeatedly denied previous rumors of a return. This is the first time she has indicated specific plans to resume playing.

"It will be a big challenge," she said on the video accompanying the announcement. "I really hope to be ready around... the tournament in Miami."

Having just become the 2013 champion at Wimbledon, Bartoli played two more events before announcing she was retiring. In 2015, a noticeably thin Bartoli was denied medical approval to play the legends doubles at Wimbledon, and then completed the NY marathon in 2016.

She has also been working as a commentator for Eurosport.
