It's no secret that Roger Federer is currently chasing the ATP's No. 1 ranking. The 36-year-old is fresh off of an Australian Open title run and is now playing the Rotterdam Open, where he needs to make the semifinals in order to take over the top spot from Rafael Nadal.

If Federer accomplishes the feat, he will be the oldest ATP player ever to be ranked No. 1. It is something that hasn't gone unnoticed by his peers, including those on the WTA tour. Here is what a few of the top women in the world had to say, from this week's Qatar Total Open in Doha:

Caroline Wozniacki:

"Roger is such an incredible athlete and obviously a great champion. And I think he deserves it. I think both him and Rafa deserve to share the No. 1 spot. So yeah, it's pretty great."

"We were talking today, me with my team about him. And I asked them how long since he was No. 1 in the world. Six years. Wow. That's going to be great, and I wish him to achieve another record."

Garbine Muguruza:

"I think everybody wants also Roger to be No. 1. We would love like one week is Roger, the next week is Rafa, and it's always like that, because for me those are the most players that I watch and I follow. So we'll see. They're going to be fighting the whole year, I guess."

"He's amazing, one of my favorite players of all time for sure, and I think just what he's doing, kind of having a huge resurgence in his career has been unbelievable, and just watching it. I think he's perfect. So I love watching him, and hopefully he gets No. 1 this week."

Julia Goerges:

"He’s my favorite player. I love watching him. I think it’s a phenomenal what he has done, what he is doing and what he’s going to be doing. For me, Federer and Nadal are legends—once they will go away there will be a big hole. They are big role models. To see Federer at that age—he’s not old but for sports maybe—to see him doing that well and winning another Grand Slam it’s unbelievable."
