Keys can't be too thrilled with this draw, as Azarenka is only so low in the rankings because a custody dispute over her son forced her out of competition for an extended period of time.

This is the first time that the two players will be meeting, so it's going to be interesting to see how it plays out. Both players possess a significant amount of power, so both of them can't rely on simply overpowering their opponent—an option that would likely work in most of their matches.

Azarenka, who has won the Miami Open three times, is as dangerous as any player in the field. She looked remarkable in her first-round meeting with 18-year-old CiCi Bellis, winning 6-3, 6-0 to set up this match. The Belarusian needed only an hour and seven minutes to win, putting to rest any possible fatigue issue that might have come up against Keys.

It's worth noting that Keys was bounced early in Indian Wells, losing 6-3, 7-6 (1) to Danielle Collins in the Round of 64. She had a bye in the first round, meaning that Keys has now lost two of her past three matches after going 1-1 in Doha. If she can't at least find the form that brought her to the Australian Open quarterfinals, it's hard to imagine her overcoming a player like Azarenka in this form.

The winner of Friday night's match will face Anastasija Sevastova in the third round. The Latvian defeated Alize Cornet 7-5, 6-4 in her second-round match in Miami.
