Novak Djokovic says he has been pain-free for two days, allowing him to concentrate on his comeback from a long-running elbow injury.

"It's quite refreshing," he was quoted as telling press before the Masters event at Miami. "Everything else had pain involved.

"[For the] first in a long, long time, I could actually be focused on the game."

Djokovic fell in his opening round at Indian Wells, his first event since a "medical intervention" on his elbow following the Australian Open. The Serb had said it was like playing his "first match" on tour, but now hopes for a better start at Miami.

He began this season with a new serving motion, and appears to have further adjusted it since his layoff.

"I am not yet at my best," he said. "I have had to modify a lot things in my game...when I made this intervention, it's obviously pretty invasive.

"But right now, I'm not playing with the pain which is the important thing."

Djokovic is the ninth seed at Miami.
