Victoria Azarenka will be playing the European clay-court season, announcing on social media that she and her son, Leo, are going to Madrid.

"Europe here we come," she wrote on Twitter. ''First stop...see you in Madrid.''

Azarenka has played just two events this season, her travel having been restricted by a custody dispute since the second half of 2017. She did not say whether this has now been resolved or mention the other events on her schedule.

Azarenka's recent performances have been promising, with the multiple Grand Slam champion getting a win before falling to Sloane Stephens in her comeback event at Indian Wells, and then reaching the semifinals of Miami before Stephens took her down again in three tough sets.

Before that, the former No. 1 had not played since Wimbledon, which was just her second event since Leo was born in 2016.
