Eugenie Bouchard was among the players most sought by sponsors when she reached a career-high of No. 5 in 2014. Yet, down to No. 107, she has been playing for most of this season with no racquet contract.

But having experimented with a few racquets during the season, she is now officially signed with Yonex. Bouchard and the company recently announced the sponsorship agreement.

"This means so much to me because Yonex was the first racket I ever used when I started playing," she said.

Bouchard's previous racquet contract stopped in 2017 and was not renewed. In addition, she was also dropped by three other sponsors and her low ranking means she has also apparently not been receiving any income from her clothing sponsor.

Still, Bouchard's performances have improved slightly since she dropped down to No. 193 during the grass-court season. The 24-year-old Canadian qualified for Wimbledon, reaching the second round, and got to the semifinals of Gstaad before retiring with injury. She also qualified for the US Open, again reaching the second round.

Bouchard also received millions from settling a slip-and-fall lawsuit against the USTA.
